| Abstract: | Students will study a selection of “classics” from the Spanish and Latin American literary traditions. In this course, there will be three sections (Don Quixote, Magic Realism, Hispanic Drama), each of which is dedicated to a text or literary movement that has had a significant impact on the literature and culture of its own country and moment, as well as having a broader
or long-lasting impact on world literature and culture. Students will explore the reasons that a work becomes and remains a classic, as well as the relationship between national literature traditions and the world literature canon. |
