172. AMST 110/110W: Introduction to American Society and Culture

Abstract:An interdisciplinary study of the creation of the cultures of the United
States. The course will explore a range of cultural activities and experiences
in America from the seventeenth century to the present, including: the
production of art and literature; the construction of national ideologies; the
structuring of economic, political, and social life; and the changing
significance of the environment.
